General Director MSF Norway
MSF Norway was founded in 1996. Today, we are an organization that employs more than 120 people. In 2020 we raised over 470 million NOK, of which 80 % went directly towards our social mission of providing medical assistance to populations affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or healthcare exclusion. Last year, MSF Norway medical and non-medical staff went on close to 70 field assignments. Our key activities also include awareness raising, advocacy and technical operational support.
As MSF approaches 50 years of existence this year, our global movement is embarking on a transformational process of shaping the future of the organization. In order to ensure we remain robust, effective and agile, we will need to adapt to a changing global reality. This includes a consultative and inclusive process of re-thinking the ways in which MSF Norway can have the most positive impact on achieving our social mission.
The Norwegian office has five divisions and areas of responsibility: Finance, Fundraising, Communications and advocacy, Program Support, and HR (Office and Field staff). Additional responsibility includes administration and IT.
In addition to managing the Norwegian office the General Director will have an active role in MSF internationally through multiple forums, including working groups with General Directors of other sections.
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership experience and skills, ideally from MSF or similar international organizations/NGOs/LMIC context
- Proven experience and skills in people management
- Proven ability in managing complex issues in a global setting
- Experience from managing change processes
- Excellent communication and networking skills
- Fluency in English is required (working proficiency in Norwegian would be an extra asset)
- Genuine commitment to MSF values and principles
Duration: Moral commitment of four years and the option to extend up to six years in total if endorsed by the board.
Based in MSF Oslo Office (some travelling, but mainly for meetings in Europe)
Salary will be set according to MSF Norway’s rewards policy.
MSF Norway is committed to achieving workforce diversity. Individuals from minority groups, indigenous groups, persons with disabilities, women, and people with otherwise underrepresented backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
